Assistant Professor for English Assistant Professor for English Requisition Number FAC - 201000000088 Job Description The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of English, starting in Fall 2013. UNT Dallas-the first public institution of higher education in the city offers faculty the unique opportunity to help shape the character of a 21st century, learner-focused, urban comprehensive university. RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be responsible for teaching 4 courses per semester, engagement in high quality applied research/scholarly activities, and service responsibilities such as curriculum development, student recruiting, program assessment, program development and leadership, student advisement, and committee leadership. Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in English/Rhetoric/Composition with a specialization in Technical Writing. A record as a publishing scholar commensurate with this rank. Demonstrated experience teaching English Composition, Developmental Writing, and Technical Communication. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching writing in a computer equipped classroom. Experience developing and teaching online, blended, and/or hybrid courses Research related to one or more of the following areas: computers and writing, empirical research methods, ESL, learning communities, literacy studies, service learning, writing across the curriculum (WAC), writing assessment, writing in the disciplines (WID), and writing program theory and administration. Physical requirements necessary to perform essential job functions Work requires some muscular exertion and/or physical strain such as standing for long periods of time, recurring bending, or recurring lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds.
