Join an innovative and energized faculty dedicated to the preparation of teacher leaders and change agents focused on school reform and social justice. Due to the rapid growth in our undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs, the Annsley Frazier Thornton School of Education at Bellarmine University in Louisville (KY) invites applications for a tenure-track position (3-4 teaching load and 9 month contract) to begin August 2013. Rank is commensurate with qualifications. In addition to continuing evidence of scholarly research and publication, responsibilities include teaching in our undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, academic advising, serving on or chairing doctoral committees, and service to the school of education, university and community.
Qualifications include an earned doctorate in special education or closely related field from a regionally and nationally accredited university (ABD considered), a minimum of three years P-12 teaching experience in special education and special education certification/licensure. Experience in one or more of the following: literacy education, early childhood education, and/or ESL education, and five years or more of P-12 experience are all highly desirable. Candidates having experience serving on/chairing doctoral committees and working with students of diverse backgrounds, including those living in high poverty circumstances, are strongly preferred. To qualify for appointment as an Associate Professor, candidates must currently hold, or have held, that rank at a comparable institution.
Bellarmine University is an equal opportunity employer. Persons of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Applications are being accepted and review will begin January 21, 2013 and continue until the position is filled.
