Alpine English Teacher in Austria

Teaching English to German-speaking students from the ages of 11 to 17 for a not-for-profit organization in Austria, in the area made famous by the “Sound of Music” movie. Bilingual education has become increasingly popular in Austrian secondary schools and ABCi has recently launched a major effort to expand their outreach program. Teaching takes place in different schools during in-school project weeks and via an online VLE, necessitating travel in and around Austria. Rolling hiring dates from November 2012.

Bachelor’s degree in education (or related field) and/or teacher certification, native English speaker, proficiency in German, genuine talent for teaching and a driver’s license. Candidates with experience in a non-traditional teaching environment such as summer camps, youth groups or outdoor education will be preferred. Candidates selected for this position will be subjected to a background investigation.

The successful applicant will be provided with accommodation during work periods and generous holiday time for Austrian public holidays. Work-related travel costs inside of Austria are covered.
