The University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for Assistant Coordinator for Asian Programs. Duties are:
a. Assist the Director and Asian Coordinator in promoting and planning institutional initiatives in China. Responsible for the visa preparation in Asia for all incoming program students as stated in our consortium agreement with AASCU/CCIEE and other programs.
b. Responsible for incoming student orientation for all Asian students.
c. Act as the International Programs translator/interpreter for Mandarin.
d. Assist with the development of promotional material for UNCP in both languages (Mandarin and English).
e. Teach 2 ESL courses for 3-5 credit hours each semester.
f. Arrange and plan tutoring for ESL students
g. Assist with the Visiting Scholar Program, the Global Living and Learning Community, and cultural excursions.
h. Assist the Asian Coordinator to meet the special needs of Asian students, and to promote and implement the involvement of Asian student in campus activities and programs.
Minimum Training & Education Requirements: Master's Degree in English Education or TESL. Valid Drivers License.
a. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese required with translating/interpreting experience.
b. Experience working with large global programs similar to the China Center for International Education Exchange (CCIEE) and American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) 1+2+1 programs.
c. Strong understanding and experience in diverse cultures. Be able to demonstrate cultural awareness and understanding.
d. Minimum one year teaching experience in ESL.
e. Skill in developing, organizing, and implementing cultural programs and excursions.
f. Exceptional skills in communication, problem solving, and decision making.
g. Experience with Blackboard, Microsoft Office, MAC Airbook, IPAD, and IPhone.
g. Experience traveling internationally in Asian countries.
This is an EPA Non Faculty Instructional position for an initial one year appointment which is renewable.
