Director of Curriculum

The Curriculum Director is responsible for providing academic and administrative support to the Assistant and Associate Deans for Curriculum, and the Chair of the curriculum committee; to provide leadership, coordination and integration of all curriculum functions and activities. The Director will be responsible for the overall administration of the operations of the curriculum division and for the development and implementation of effective curriculum support programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate and support overall operation of clinical curriculum.
Implement policies and procedures for the clinical curriculum. Maintain currency of procedures and programs.
Coordinate and ensure the documentation flow and process associated with course and clerkship reviews, program components and overall program.
Respond to inquiries regarding clinical curricular matters from, and provide guidance to, departmental chairs, faculty, staff, assistant/associate deans, and deans.
Provide guidance and direction to Clerkship Directors in the use of DxR Clinician and support Sr. Associate Dean for Clinical Science with DxR exams.
Ensure AICM coordination across campuses, communication frequently to ensure goals and objectives are met.
Institute a periodic review of outcome measures and goals for integrated curriculum presentation.
Conduct needs analysis of AICM and pinpoint the most challenging student issues i.e., transitioning to clinical learning environment from a structured classroom setting, developing more clinically-relevant communication skills, and particular areas of basic science knowledge. An assessment of ongoing needs should be provided to the program leadership for action.
Prepare reports and analyze strengths and areas for improvement of various projects and programs through quantitative (multivariate data) and qualitative measures, as well as making appropriate recommendations.
Identify educational research topics related to career choices and assist in the creation and delivery of residency modules.
Develop, implement, and maintain sound assessment and evaluation methodologies.
Guide the execution of assessment and evaluation methodologies, policies and processed.
Facilitate 5th semester group sessions, increasing flow of communication in a structured classroom setting.
Assist in the development of project improvement plans based on analysis of needs and accreditation reports.
Revise and update current training materials according to system and design changes.
Propose and establish instructional design and development standards for all existing and future training programs.
Serve as liaison with other divisions, including student, faculty and clinical affairs.
Manage curricular content of learning college and websites related to the clinical science curriculum
Support and monitor tasks of designated faculty educators who fulfill curricular roles such as supervision of clinical skills, exam process, participation in integration of basic and clinical sciences, coordination of non-discipline specific topics, evaluation of program objectives, supervision of core clinical activities.
Participate in committees related to clinical affairs.
Assist Sr. Associate Dean for Clinical Science on projects/activities as directed.
Assist in programs designed to enhance clinical curricular as well as committee and sub-committee functions.
Coordinate the development of and maintenance of an accurate clinical curriculum map.
Develop printed materials, information packets, brochures related to clinical curricular activities as needed.
Candidate must have a Master's degree in higher education or a related academic discipline as well as significant experience in curriculum development; experience in managing professional and administrative staff, strong communication and problem solving skills.
Required Credentials and Education: The successful candidate must have a Master's Degree in Education or related field, although medical education would be an asset, with at least 5 years management experience .
