The Baptist Union of Papua New Guinea is the administrative body of Baptist Education PNG catering for the needs of elementary, primary and high school students in the remote locations of the Western Highlands, Enga and Sandaun Provinces, Papua New Guinea.

The Baptist Union of Papua New Guinea has recently established Kumbareta Baptist High school in the heart of the Western Highlands, 50 kms north of Mt Hagen town. Situated in a high and appealing position in the beautiful Baiyer Valley, this school represents a major achievement for the Baptist Union PNG, Provincial Government and the surrounding communities who have been very keen and active partners in the development of education in the region since 2003. The school is served by a number of primary feeder schools and is a thriving school community now with 320 students and significant expected growth expected students over the next few years. Kumbareta High school is a registered Provincial Lower Secondary High School under the National Department of Education with its governance functions carried out by the Division of Education in the Western Highlands and the Baptist Education agency.
The Baptist National Education Board has come to more fully realize the difference that appropriately qualified and trained High School English Teachers can make in improving literacy standards in Papua New Guinea. The Lower Secondary English syllabus contributes to integral human development as it is based on the students’ physical environments, societies and cultures. In their exposure to a wide range of spoken, written and visual texts from within and outside the classroom, students will learn how to read and write for pleasure, communicate effectively with others and make wise and informed decisions about matters to do with family, personal relationships and the wider community.
Specifically the successful candidate will have qualifications relevant to the position, excellent teaching skills and a heart to participate in growing the capacity of other school staff in a developing world context. Remuneration and other benefits are negotiable with the Baptist Union PNG.
