Responsibilities
Our ideal candidate will have proven university teaching and research skills, along with relevant professional experience:
Developing new teaching methods that encourage positive interactions and overall student development.
Teaching in different subject areas relative to member''s capabilities.
Planning, delivering and critically reviewing a range of teaching and assessment activities appropriate to students'' levels.
Setting and/or promptly marking coursework, practical sessions and examinations, and providing appropriate feedback to students in accord with marking rubrics.
Providing regular consultation times for students seeking guidance on their subjects, advice on assessments or other related matters.
Participating in peer classroom observations or other staff development initiates aimed at improving quality.
Qualification:
Lecturer:
1. Undergraduate degree in English Language or similar qualification.
2. Experience in teaching at a recognized university or at a tertiary level (it is expected that an Associate Professor would have taught at both under- and postgraduate levels at a recognized university with 8 years experience; Senior Lecturers would preferably taught at both under and postgraduate levels at a recognised university with 5 years experience).
3. Ability to work with minimum supervision, maintain effective communications with colleagues and use initiative to resolve problems or find information.

Senior Lecturer:
1. Master''s degree in linguistics or related degree in Teaching English as a Second Language.
2. Experience in teaching at a recognized university or at a tertiary level (it is expected that an Associate Professor would have taught at both under- and postgraduate levels at a recognized university with 8 years experience; Senior Lecturers would preferably taught at both under and postgraduate levels at a recognised university with 5 years experience).
3. Awareness of quality assurance processes in higher education.
4. Ability to work with minimum supervision, maintain effective communications with colleagues and use initiative to resolve problems or find information.

Assistant Professor:
1. PhD in linguistics or related degree in Teaching English as a Second Language.
2. Track record in relevant research (for Assistant Professors, capability will be considered).
3. Experience in teaching at a recognized university or at a tertiary level (it is expected that an Associate Professor would have taught at both under- and postgraduate levels at a recognized university with 8 years experience; Senior Lecturers would preferably taught at both under and postgraduate levels at a recognised university with 5 years experience).
4. Awareness of quality assurance processes in higher education.
5. Ability to work with minimum supervision, maintain effective communications with colleagues and use initiative to resolve problems or find information.

Associate Professor:

3. Experience in leadership / management roles within a recognised university (e.g. programme leadership, committee chair, provision of staff development, policy administration).
4. Experience in teaching at a recognized university or at a tertiary level (it is expected that an Associate Professor would have taught at both under- and postgraduate levels at a recognized university with 8 years experience; Senior Lecturers would preferably taught at both under and postgraduate levels at a recognised university with 5 years experience).
5. Awareness of quality assurance processes in higher education.
6. Ability to work with minimum supervision, maintain effective communications with colleagues and use initiative to resolve problems or find information.

Remuneration Package
The salary offered will be commensurate with the candidate''s qualifications and experience, but will compare favorably with leading Chinese Universities.
Expatriate benefits will be available to eligible applicants, such as accommodation allowance, a relocation allowance, medical insurance and paid leave.

Dalian City
Dalian is located on the Liaodong Peninsula in northeastern China. Dalian lies in the warm temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere, and has a continental monsoon climate. The area experiences all seasons, but the temperatures in both summer and winters are not extreme.

The relatively clean air and low cost of living have brought a growing numbers of expatriates to Dalian. Responding to demand, the city offers a wide selection of pubs, clubs, KTVs malls, and shopping centers. The city offers a diverse range of leisure activities in its park, beaches, sports centers and leisure spots.

Dongbei University of Finance & Economics
Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE), founded in 1952, is one of the leading universities in Dalian and North-eastern China in the areas of finance, economics, management and tourism.

Global Institute of Management & Economics (GIME) is an institution dedicated to providing an excellent education both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for international and local students. GIME has a dynamic multicultural teaching team comprised of staff from the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Germany and other counties with diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

Surrey International Institute (SII) is a Joint Sino-Foreign Cooperative School set up by Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) and the University of Surrey (UoS) in the UK. SII was approved in 2007 by the Ministry of Education and currently has over 1700 students enrolled in business and tourism management programmes. The structure of the programmes follows a 2+2 format whereby students complete the first two years of a DUFE business programme while concurrently studying English and then, on meeting performance criteria and an overall IELTS score of 6.5 with 6.0 or more in sub-categories, can continue into the final two years of the relevant University of Surrey programme. The newly revised and expanded English language curriculum is scheduled across the initial two years, though continued support is provided in the latter years. Key targets include preparing students to effectively study in an English learning environment at university level and to pass the IELTS tests for entry into the UoS programmes.
