Senior Instructors of English Language

The English Language Centre (ELC) of the University of Macau invites applications for the position of Senior Instructors in the discipline: English Language
Qualifications: Applicants must possess at minimum an MA in TESOL/TEFL/Applied Linguistics with at least 2 years of combined teaching experience at the tertiary level (preferably teaching student populations similar to those enrolled at the University of Macau). It is expected that candidates will have demonstrated experience in (1) curriculum and materials development in teaching English for academic purposes (academic writing, speaking, learning skills/strategies and (2) the use of IT (instructional technology) and are adept at creating e-learning materials for English language learning.
In addition to (1) and (2) listed above, preference will be given to candidates who have experience with (a) the administration of independent learning / self-access centres (with emphasis on the ability to train, mentor, and supervise staff with little or no experience), (b) curriculum/programme coordination for an English language programme, (c) student-oriented English enhancement activity organization, or (d) educational measurement/language assessment. As the ELC will be opening its first Independent Learning Centre, we are interested in recruiting candidates with long-term commitment and interest in this area.
Candidates should also possess excellent organizational qualities, communication skills, and the ability to work well with a multicultural staff. Applicants should be willing to teach some weekday evenings, participate in and contribute to ELC activities, and provide professional service to the University. Academic publication experience is not necessary but a specific research interest/agenda is expected.
Selected candidates are expected to assume duty in August 2014.
Position and Remuneration: Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants academic qualification, current position and professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
