Established in August 1996, Shanghai World Foreign Language Middle School is located in the southwestern part of Xuhui District in Shanghai. The Xuhui District is generally seen as one of the most important education areas in Shanghai. The WFLMS is privately run and implements the I.B.O. (International Baccalaureate Organization) program.

Serving grades 6-12, the Schools mission is to produce students who have a competitive edge academically and have the ability to contribute to society in meaningful way, both locally and internationally. In partnership with U-Learn, the WFLMS takes significant steps to prepare its students for college and university life, whether in China or abroad. To learn more about the WFLMS,

A. IB-DP Department (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program)
Designed specifically for high school students (grades 10-12), the Diploma Program (DP) is the highest level of the IB curriculum. The DP is an academically challenging and balanced program of education with final examinations that prepares students for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being of students.
We require several subject (English, History, Math, Science, and Drama) teachers who will be able to work in the IB-DP Department, grades 10-12, starting September 1, 2014.

Ideal candidates have the following qualifications/characteristics:
A major/degree in the subject they are teaching
At least 2 years of subject-related teaching experience
TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification (or other equivalent level of cert.)
Teaching credentials are preferred, but not required
Native English speaker

B. IB-MYP Department (International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program)
The MYP is designed for grades 6 through 9. It provides a framework of learning which encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world. It fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement, qualities that are essential for life in the 21st century.

We require several subject (English, History, Math, Science, and Drama) teachers who will be able to work in the IB-MYP Department, grades 6-9, starting September 1, 2014.

Ideal candidates have the following qualifications/characteristics:
A major/degree in the subject they are teaching
At least 2 years of subject-related teaching experience
TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification (or other equivalent level of cert.)
Teaching credentials are preferred, but not required
Native English speaker is preferred

C. IB-US Program Department (International Baccalaureate US Program Center)
A revolutionary joint-degree program established in cooperation with Brandon Hall School in Atlanta, GA, the WFLMS is unique for having an IB US Program Center housed on campus. The US program is devoted to helping Chinese students prepare for post-secondary education in the United States. Besides organizing exchange programs, the US program offers college test preparation and counseling services for the US college application process.

We require several ESL, TOEFL, and SAT teachers who will be able to work in the IB-US Program Department, grades 10-12, starting September 1, 2014.

Ideal candidates have the following qualifications/characteristics:
College graduate
Experience with TOEFL, SAT, or other college entry exam courses
1-2 years of teaching experience is preferred
TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification (or other equivalent level of cert.)
Native English speaker

2. Subject and ESL Teachers for High School Students at Shanghai Shixi High School

Located in the central Jingan district of Shanghai, Shixi High School is one of the first experimental and exemplary high schools designated by the Shanghai Education Commission. In 2013, Shixi High School became an IB-DP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program) candidate school, and is now on its way to becoming an IB World School.

Shixi High School is an experimental base for the cultivation and creativity of Shanghai high school students. Shixi stresses the training of students abilities and sees to it that the students interests and innovative spirits are brought into play. Shixi High School also boasts a beautiful and well-facilitated campus in the central district of Shanghai. Students and staff have access to science laboratories, psychological consulting rooms, and other dedicated classrooms.

A. IB-DP Department (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program)

At least 2 years of subject-related teaching experience is preferred
TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification (or other equivalent level of cert.)

3. Teachers for Primary School Students at the Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School (WFLPS)

Located in the Xuhui district of central Shanghai and founded in 1993, the Shanghai WFLPS has three departments: Local, International, and IB-PYP (International Baccalaureate - Primary Years Program). The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) has recognized the PYP Department as part of the IB Program since 2007, making it the first Chinese school to achieve this recognition.

A. IB-PYP Department (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program)
The IB Primary Years Program (PYP) is a curriculum framework designed for students in grades 1-5. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It is defined by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning.
We require 7 homeroom teachers and 1 Art teacher who will be able to work in the IB-PYP Department, grades 1-5, starting August 25, 2014.
Ideal candidates have the following qualifications/characteristics:
A degree in Education (or teaching certification in their home country)
No TEFL/TESOL/CELTA required if certified
At least 1-2 years of relevant teaching experience
Career teacher
Native English speaker
Recent Education majors, who have done student teaching as part of their university coursework, are also encouraged to apply.

B. WFLPS International Department
Established in 2000, the International Section is another department within the WFLPS. Originally created to build a comprehensive foundation for bilingual students, its mission is to increase elementary students English language proficiency using Chinese-Western integrated curriculum.

We require 1 Science, 1 Drama, and several ESL teachers who will be able to work in the International Department, grades 1-5, starting August 25, 2014.

Ideal candidates have the following qualifications/characteristics:
College graduate
Major/degree in the subject they are teaching (preferred); No specific major required for ESL teachers
TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification (or other equivalent cert.)
Native English speaker
1-2 years of teaching experience is preferred

C. WFLPS Local Department
The third and final department within the WFLPS is the Local Department. The main focus here is developing good student habits based on regular, seasonal, and grade modes, which aid students lifelong development. Recognized by the Ministry of Education as a Model School for Teachers Training and Development, many teachers from the Local Department have received international and national awards in several competitions.

We require 2 ESL teachers who will be able to teach in the WFLPS Local Department starting August 25, 2014.

Ideal candidates have the following qualifications/characteristics:
College graduate
TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification (or other equivalent degree)
Native English speaker
1-2 years of teaching experience is preferred

4. Subject and ESL Teachers for High School Students at Suzhou High School Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University

Suzhou High School Affiliated with Xian Jiaotong University (SHS) is a top public day and boarding high school located in Suzhou Industrial Park, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China a short train ride from Shanghai. Established in 2004, the school is already recognized for its internationally focused education, and received the Four Star title from the Ministry of Education in 2011 the highest designation awarded to a public school.

A. US High School Department
SHS is unique for having a US Program Center that is devoted to helping Chinese students prepare for post-secondary education in the United States. The Center was established jointly with U-Learn and currently organizes several exchange programs, in addition to providing counseling services for the US college application process.

The school hosts two exchange programs with Verde Valley School in Sedona, Arizona and Brandon Hall School in Atlanta, Georgia. In these programs, students combine studies at SHS and in the US. They then receive a high school diploma from both schools upon completion of their studies.

We require 1 History, 1 English Literature, and 1 Visual Arts teacher who will be able to work in the US High School Department, grades 10-12, starting September 1, 2014.

Ideal candidates have the following qualifications/characteristics:
A major in the subject they are teaching
1-2 years of teaching experience is preferred
TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification (or other equivalent level of cert.)
Native English speaker
Some experience with English Language Learners (ELLs) is preferred

B. Public School ESL Department

As a top public day and boarding school, SHS is renowned for its strong bilingual programs. The ESL Department of the Public School is devoted to developing students key skills based on the 4 Domains reading, writing, speaking, and listening with a focus on applying these skills across disciplines.

We require several ESL teachers who will be able to work in the Public School ESL Department, grades 1-9, starting September 1, 2014.

Ideal candidates have the following qualifications/characteristics:
College graduate
TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification is preferred (not necessary)
1-2 years teaching experience is preferred (not necessary)
