Teacher of English in Chile

Date: 2009-10-28 23:10:34, Location: South America

TeachingChile is a recruiting and placement firm located in Santiago, Chile. We have a number of universities, kindergarten through grade 12 schools (K-12), and adult-learner language institutes that have asked us to recruit talented teachers on their behalf. Candidates for the year 2010 (university and K-12 positions) should be available in Santiago, Chile on February 26, 2010, with an application deadline of October 30, 2009.

11-12 month contracts for year 2010 adult-learner language institutes are available monthly. For these positions you need to apply at least eight weeks prior to your expected arrival.

We recommend that you NOT click on the InstaApply button to send us your TEFL.com stored credentials. Instead, the schools in our network require a complete application package that can be found on our website at http://www.teachingchile.com

Contact us at info@teachingchile.com or call us at:
U.S. +1 720-221-3831 or London +44 (020) 8150-6981

Note:
A $50 USD application fee is charged to distribute and promote an applicant to our network of schools.

Additionally, given the program is not supported by external funding, a $1,195 USD program placement fee will be charged and payable (in two installments) upon acceptance of a job offer. This fee covers a variety of services that TeachingChile provides to the participant:
- screening of the best teaching opportunities for our participants with a monthly salary sufficient to cover your basic living needs at the local standard of living,
- assistance in finding affordable lodging (in most schools the first month of lodging is pre-paid),
- experienced in-country coordinators to provide support and services during your stay,
- in-country orientation and training,
- a one-year subscription to an online English-language Chilean news service, and
- pre-departure information to ensure you are prepared for your trip including visa assistance and other recommendations to be sure you are properly equipped.

Qualifications
Depending on the teaching institution:
TEFL or TESOL certification desired, but not required.
Native English speaker (no exceptions).
University graduate (no exceptions).

Compensation
Depending on the teaching institution, benefits vary:

Schools in our network are not seeking volunteers. The hours and pay varies depending on the school, but in general you will receive a minimum of $335.000 Chilean pesos per month for 15 hours of teaching hours per week. More can be earned with more hours per week.

Visit our Cost of Living Guide to understand this base salary and the expenses relative to your home currency. http://www.teachingchile.com/pdf/cost.pdf
