Founded in 1919, AUC moved to a new 270-acre state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo in 2008. The University also operates in its historic downtown facilities, offering cultural events, graduate classes, and continuing education. Student housing is available in both downtown Zamalek and New Cairo. Among the premier universities in the region, AUC is Middle States accredited; its Engineering programs are accredited by ABET and the Management program is accredited by AACSB. AUC is an English-medium institution; eighty-five percent of the students are Egyptian and the rest include students from nearly ninety countries, principally from the Middle East, Africa and North America. Faculty salary and rank are based on qualifications and professional experience. Job Description:
The Intensive English Program, English Language Institute, at the American University in Cairo invites applications for an English Language Instructor to teach English as a foreign language to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in intensive English courses. Candidates with several years of teaching experience, including at least two years of international experience, along with English for Academic Purposes experience and a commitment to instructional improvement are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in curriculum development, CALL/instructional technology, and/or language assessment.
Requirements:
A Masters degree in TEFL/TESL is required. Successful candidates should demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching, professional, curriculum and/or materials development. Priority will be given to applications received by December 1, 2009; however, position is open until filled. Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by videoconference in February 2010.
