Georgetown University is dedicated to providing students an excellent education in an international and intercultural environment. The EFL program at Georgetown University provides intensive English instruction to students wanting to study in American universities. The student-centered program has 14 full-time instructors and 2-4 adjuncts serving a student population of approximately 125 students per term. Students represent more than 25 countries worldwide. The program offers instruction from the Basic to Bridge level during the fall and spring 16 week terms. Faculty also have opportunities to teach in the EFL Summer Session. Located in the heart of Washington, DC, the university offers an exciting environment for professional development and cultural enrichment.
Job Description
The English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program in the Center for Language Education and Development (CLED) invites applications for the position of full-time Instructor, English as a Foreign Language, beginning August 2010. The position offers a 10 month academic year contract with benefits and the opportunity for renewal. Summer teaching is also available under separate contract. The salary is commensurate with experience.
The mission of the Georgetown University EFL program is to provide quality language instruction and cultural orientation to students who require English for their academic, professional or personal needs. Faculty incorporate a variety of teaching methods and technologies into their classroom instruction based on their familiarity with current best practices in the field.
CLED EFL Instructors are expected to maintain a clear understanding of the program’s curricular objectives and teaching expectations; plan and implement lessons that are engaging, productive and challenging; participate in program service including testing and orientation responsibilities and service on program committees; and engage in ongoing professional development activities.

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in TESL or closely related field
• Minimum of 3 years full time teaching experience in a university based intensive EFL/ESL program
• Experience in communicative language methodology, skills integration, task based learning, and proficiency in using technology as an integrated component of classroom instruction
• Experience in teaching across program levels and skills
• Interest in teaching in overseas programs
• Experience in distance learning methodologies
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an instructional team
