Libya Ministry contract teachers

The British Council in Libya is recruiting teachers and co-ordinatrors to work on a project funded by the Ministry of Health. You will work in small teams, delivering high quality general English classes to healthcare workers in their own premises in Tripoli, Benghazi or Sebha. UK passport essential for visa. Visas are not granted to people whose passport shows evidence of a visit to Isreal / Palestinian Territories.
Preferred nationality: United Kingdom
Preferred qualifications: CELTA, Trinity Cert. TESOL or equivalent TEFl certificate. Diploma required for Co-ordinator roles.
Teaching experience: 2 years minimum
Qualifications
UK passport essential.
TEFL certificate (teachers) or Diploma (co-ordinators), plus at least two years experience of full-time EFL teaching.
Compensation
Salary is paid on a 10 point scale depending on your qualifications and experience. The scale ranges from GB £14639 to £18606 per annum. Most is paid in Libyan Dinars but £500 per month is paid in Sterling into a UK bank account.
We provide free accommodation for the duration of your contract, and we cover the cost of electricity and water.
Teachers based outside Tripoli are paid an additional allowance at the rate of LYD 4400 per annum (Benghazi) or LYD 8800 (Sebha).
Also provided: airfares from the UK, baggage allowance, medical insurance, settling-in allowance, subsidised lessons in Arabic and contributions to your pension.
Annual leave is currently 35 days per annum, with an additional 5 days as long as Libya remains in ECA category E.
