Job Description
American University's Department of Language and Foreign Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for the full-time program administrator of its TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Program. This professional 12 month staff position is responsible for the general management of all aspects of AU’s TESOL programs, ensuring the smooth running of the program and creative curriculum instruction for the students.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the TESOL programs, including certificate programs in TESOL; MA in TESOL; the Master’s International Program (MIP); the combined BA/MA in TESOL; and joint initiatives between LFS/TESOL and the School of Education, Teaching, and Health.
• Supervise TESOL office staff, including administrative assistant and student staff.
• Identify, orient, and advise adjunct faculty within the program.
• Budget management and course scheduling.
• Plan, manage, and direct TESOL workshops, lectures, and outreach programs.
• Work directly with TESOL/LFS students as advisor and mentor. Coordinate portfolio evaluation and oral comprehensive exams. Provide career counseling to current students and alumni. Liaise with alumni community organization.
• Manage the recruitment and activities of the program through outreach activities, advertising, promotion, and website.
• Assist the faculty and department chair with the development and evaluation of the TESOL program and curriculum.

Requirements
MA in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or other appropriate field required. At least five years of experience teaching ESL/EFL required. Ph.D. or Ed.D. in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or other appropriate field, or extensive professional experience preferred. Administrative, marketing, and international experience. Skill in foreign languages.
