Job Description
American University’s Department of Language and Foreign Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time temporary faculty position in TESOL at the rank of instructor beginning in the fall 2010 semester. The position may be renewable.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibility is to teach 18 credit hours of graduate TESOL courses per academic year. Courses may include ESL teaching practice and methods, curriculum and materials design, language assessment, and cultural issues in the ESL/EFL classroom.
Other responsibilities include student mentoring, participating in portfolio reading and comprehensive exams, taking part in program events and workshops.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Required: MA or Ph.D in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or related field; five years ESL/EFL teaching experience; two years teacher training experience; evidence of teaching excellence.
Desired: Experience teaching in online environments, teaching pronunciation, and/or preparing US K-12 teachers.
