Job Description
The American English Institute, in the Linguistics Department at the University of Oregon (UO AEI) invites applications for three to nine positions as Instructor of English as a Second Language beginning Fall 2011, or sooner. The positions are nine-month, fixed term, renewable contracts. Salary is commensurate with experience, depending on background and experience. Summer teaching is possible at an additional one third of the nine-month salary. Excellent benefits, see:

Responsibilities
Full-time ESOL instruction within different programs of the UO AEI.
Possible teaching assignments in the Linguistics Language Teaching Specialization MA program if background is appropriate.
Participation in Institute development projects.
Interaction with students and faculty in Linguistics.
Possible administrative work in program coordination.
Development of a personal professional agenda.

Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with experience.
Requirements
MA in TESOL, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or very closely related field; PhD preferred.
Demonstrated excellence in ESOL teaching with at least three years teaching experience; strong teaching credentials in an IEP preferred.
Experience in communicative language methodology, skills integration, task-based learning, and proficiency in using technology as an integrated component of classroom instruction.
Experience in teaching across program levels and skills.
Evidence of developing expertise in one of the following areas is preferred: teacher training, EAP, ESP, CALL, distance education, reading, and/or materials and curriculum development.
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an instructional team.
International experience and an interest in further international experience preferred.
Proficiency in English. Hiring may be contingent upon English proficiency assessment.
Demonstrated potential to contribute positively to the university’s diverse community.
