Esperance Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to recruit a remarkable English Teacher to join their team. The successful applicant will be flexible in their approach to teaching and possess an ability to successfully engage students in a variety of learning environments.
As an Esperance SHS staff member you will be expected to continually look at ways to finetune your practices, develop new skills and aspire to uphold the school motto of ‘be the best you can be’. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate a preparedness to collaborate with other academic staff in the development and implementation of the schools curriculum. As the successful applicant you will have a great rapport with the students and provide a work environment that is positive and supportive, with a team atmosphere. You will be a team player that is collaborative and is able to work as part of a team and develop classroom management strategies and provide good pastoral care of students.
Esperance SHS was opened in 1966 and has a population of around 830 students, including 70 Aboriginal students. It offers a comprehensive secondary education from years 8 to 12 and provides a range of curriculum subject choices and exciting extra curricular activities. Esperance lies in the south-east of Western Australia, some 720kms from Perth. The town has won awards for its stunning natural environment and is one of Western Australia's best kept tourist secrets!
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for 6 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the National Professional Standards for Teachers):
· Professional knowledge;
· Professional practice; and
· Professional engagement.
