Bilingual/ESL Education- Assistant Professor with expertise in Bilingual and ESL PK-12 education. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in bilingual education and ESL education leading to bilingual/ESL teaching credentials, maintain a record of scholarly presentations and writings,; direct theses and doctoral dissertations; develop and teach academic programs in both campus and off-campus environments, serve as needed on program, departmental, college or university committees; assist in report writing and accreditation reporting.

An earned doctorate (by time of appointment) in bilingual and/or ESL education or a related field, with background in methods, materials, assessment, and technology for English Language Learners. Teaching experience in PK-12 ESL or bilingual education is required.


Preferred qualifications include competency in a language of a population served by bilingual programs in Illinois, scholarly record and research agenda, consulting/staff development experience, ability to teach a variety of courses leading to approval as an ESL or bilingual education teacher, knowledge of new developments and technologies used in ELL teacher education, and experience in administering grant funded programs. This is a permanent, tenure-track position, with salary based on experience.
