Date 2014-01-06 21:01:24 Location : Africa
Volunteering overseas with ICYE UK could be just what you’re looking for.
ICYE UK is a registered charity (1081907) and is part of an International Federation of NGOs that place volunteers on a variety of community-led social and environmental projects worldwide; throughout Latin America, Africa and Asia. ICYE UK has been recognised by UNESCO and is a UN Peace Messenger.
We are currently recruiting volunteers to support local NGOs in throughout Latin America, Africa and Asia on our short term (STePs) programme for 3 weeks to 4 months.
Our projects work across a wide range of fields including youth development and teaching, sports coaching and arts, human rights and women’s development and environmental conservation. All projects are run by local people and rely heavily on the support of local and international volunteers to develop their work. Therefore we require dedicated and responsible volunteers.
A project database is available to look at online and volunteers select their preferred projects when submitting their application.
ICYE has a strong focus on responsible volunteering, such as working with local partners and offering extensive training and support to volunteers. Our emphasis is on a cultural exchange so volunteers live with a host family, as well as volunteer for a local community-led project. ICYE UK also provides voluntary placements with local charities in the UK for individuals from all over the world.
Programme fees begin at £1600 for 4 weeks and include return flights, insurance, accommodation and food, visa support, training, airport pick-up, fundraising support and much more.
**We also offer bursaries**
The next deadline for the £750 bursary is Monday 10th March 2014!
