4 week Summer Teaching English / French placement – Morocco

Date 2014-04-28 10:04:31 Location : Africa

ICYE UK is an international ethical volunteering charity. We organise inspiring and ethical overseas placements, ranging from 3 weeks to 16 weeks on the Short term placement (STePs). As part of an international federation of small NGOs we work with partners in 36 countries across Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to teach English or French for 4 weeks in July or August 2014 in local Morocco schools. The teaching programme is run in co-operation with CSM, Chantiers Sociaux Marocains, a Moroccan NGO founded in 1963 and a partner member of the ICYE Federation.

“I see why volunteering within education is necessary in Morocco. The young people have bags of enthusiasm towards learning, developing and learning their fourth language.” Fatma, 2012 volunteer.

The ICYE programme is so unique in fostering a true cultural experience that ICYE has been recognised as a United Nations Peace Messenger. We believe whole heartedly in developing cultural understanding, supporting communities and building personal development.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to teach either English or French for 4 weeks to Moroccan young people who use the summer school to practise their English or French language skills.

This volunteer position would suit an individual who is looking to experience Moroccan culture, who would like develop their skills as a Teacher, to learn Arabic or who would simply like to find out more about living and working with those from another culture. Teaching experience is not necessary, although self-motivation is essential as volunteers will be responsible for creating their own lesson plans.

Most volunteers will live with a host family which is an extremely exciting part of the programme as this can offer a real insight into Moroccan way of life.

Full support is given as ICYE UK provides extensive fundraising support, pre-departure training and practical advice, while on arrival you will receive orientation from CSM and on-going support throughout your stay in morocco.

The programme fee is £850. This is an all-inclusive programme fee, including return flights, accommodation and food, visa support (if required), and insurance amongst other things.
