Science and Math High School Teachers Needed in Honduras

Date 2014-05-03 11:05:34 Location : Central America

Hi! My name is Shandy Hernandez, and I am HR Supervisor and co-founder of Minerva School. I would like to talk to you a little about Minerva. The Minerva Bilingual School is a small private school that started in 2005, on the outskirts of the historic city of Gracias, Lempira, Honduras. The school's combination of international teachers and permanent Honduran staff are able to provide accesible bilingual instruction to 370 students ranging from pre-kindergarten to eleventh grade levels, otherwise unreachable through the public system in Honduras.

Minerva School is certified by ACSI (Asociation of Christian Schools International) and by the Honduran Ministry of Education. All Minerva students are from Gracias and the surrounding communities.

We are hiring teachers for the 2014-2015 school year. The positions we currently have open are for Science and Math in middle school – and Biology and physics in High School.

We know that the achievement of our mission lies in the hands of our teachers. We seek qualified and responsible individuals to work with us. To be an international teacher at Minerva, we require a bachelor's degree, experience in education, commitment for an entire academic year, and strong oral and written communication skills. Applicants with teaching certification and experience living abroad are preferred. Due to visa reasons, the position is open only for teachers from North America or the EU.

The ideal international teacher at Minerva is hardworking, flexible, creative and self-motivated. As a member of the Minerva staff, you will have the unique opportunity to not only teach, but also be an integral member of a small, multicultural team committed to providing a life- changing education for the students of Gracias. Because this, we seek individuals who are committed to engaging our community and igniting positive change and outside of school.

Teachers earn a monthly Honduran professor salary. Living accommodations are provided by the school as well as working visa arrangements.

This can be a very interesting experience for you! You are going to enjoy teaching the honduran students and you surely will love the uniqueness, historical background, and closeness to nature that Gracias, Lempira possesses.
