Curriculum Coordinator

Position Title: CESL Curriculum Coordinator, The Center for English as a Second Language at Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Rank: Administrative/Professional; 12-month, term appointment; renewable contingent on performance and programmatic needs

Duties:

Responsible for the CESL curriculum and assessment
Serve on the Assessment and Curriculum Committees
Ensure alignment of curricular goals, objectives, and outcomes
Oversee and coordinate the administration, scoring and proctoring of the placement diagnostics and promotion exams
Maintain statistics regarding student achievement, assessment, and curriculum
Monitor progressive skill development across the curriculum
Evaluate texts and software and make recommendations to the Curriculum Committee
Work with teachers to prepare, revise, and maintain coordinated midterms and finals
Lead in the development of level-appropriate instructional and assessment materials, mentoring and reviewing materials, and tests developed by others
Conduct teacher training and support sessions as needed on issues related to the teaching throughout the curriculum
Teach, as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:

MA in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field
Five or more years of ESL/EFL teaching experience in an IEP
Two years of IEP curriculum coordination experience
Demonstrated experience in a university-owned, not for profit IEP
Exceptional English language fluency and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships


Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field
Broad knowledge and understanding of the field of TESOL
Demonstrated success with professional development
Demonstrated expertise in working with new media
Experience with academic accreditation
Excellent organizational and administrative and intercultural communication skills
Experience working, living or studying abroad
Proficiency in a second language
Start Date: July 1, 2015
