About the school: Lorien Novalis School is a Rudolf Steiner School in the Hills District, on the north- western rim of Sydney. The school is nestled in five hectares of native bushland in Glenhaven. It has its own orchard (a reminder of past rural days) and boasts a collection of purposefully built classrooms. The school has been offering Steiner education to the community for 44 years and it boasts a rich history of artistic and creative education. Full-time preferable (could be part-time but must be at least 0.75 FTE and needs to accommodate being a Main Lesson teacher)
High School English teacher up to and including Advanced HSC English
To commence at the start of 2016, with the possibility of part-time in Term 3 &/or Term 4, 2015 (not essential).
Responsible to: Coordinator of High School, and ultimately responsible to the Principal (Director of Teaching and Learning)

Essential selection criteria
Current teaching qualifications in English up to and including Advanced HSC English, and registered to teach in NSW, with a current working with children check.
An interest and at least some knowledge of Rudolf Steiner schools, with an interest in learning about teaching high school Main Lessons.
A positive attitude towards high school students and a love of teaching . Able to relate effectively with high school students and to promote motivation, enthusiasm and self-direction in students.
Detailed knowledge of NSW English Curriculum for Stages 4, 5 & 6, and ability to teach these up to and including Advanced HSC English
Capacity to plan and deliver Main Lessons, other lessons and to develop capacities in ‘thinking, feeling, willing’, and capacity for differentiation in working with mixed ability classes. Planning includes experience or willingness to use Program Builder for all lessons.
Being flexible and open to change
Effective interpersonal communication skills, for working in a collaborative school environment, and for communicating with students and parents/carers.
Willingness and ability to participate in teacher training in Steiner education
Preferred Selection Criteria
Experience in teaching in a Rudolf Steiner School
Willingness and ability to be involved in school life, to attend Class Trips and participate in other extra-curricular activities, including view to joining the College of Teachers
View to possibly committing to a full cycle as a co-Class Guardian role in the future
Artistic, creative and/or sporting abilities and/or interests and willingness to engage with students in these areas
