English Language Learner (ELL) Specialist – ELA and Math, Grades PreK-5

The English Language Learner (ELL) Specialist - ELA and Math Pre-K-5 will coordinate and collaborate with our content team and strategic partnership teams as well as with external partners and national experts to select, curate, adapt, sequence and explicate Common Core open education resource curriculum for schools/districts serving a large population of ELLs.
Select OER resources that appropriately support ELL students at their grade levels and their language proficiency levels
Adapt curriculum and instructional material as necessary to ensure ELL material is high quality and grounded in research
Conduct multi-day professional development seminars
Collaborate with leadership and ELL staff in school districts and charter school networks that serve large populations of ELLs
Support the evaluation of professional development and curriculum implementation
Design virtual learning experiences for professionals serving ELL populations and evaluate the efficacy of those experiences
Stay current on states’ educational policies as they relate to English Language acquisition assessments, ELL standards, etc.

Master’s Degree/teaching certification in TESOL/ESL required; TESOL and additional content area degrees/certification(s) preferred
Deep knowledge of Common Core State Standards and implications for ELL/bilingual/Dual Language students.
Knowledge of effective early childhood literacy and numeracy instruction
Knowledge of effective ELL/bilingual/dual language instructional programs, and ELL/Bilingual progressions
Exceptional writing and editing ability
Excellent communication and public speaking skills
Prior experience with education policy issues and education reform initiatives (preferred)
Prior experience delivering professional development to educators and leaders
Strong organizational and planning skills and attention to detail
Fluency in a language other than English strongly desired
