Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, founded in 1972, is an Independent, Anglican, co educational Day and Boarding school for students from Kindergarten through to Year 12. About 80-90% of Year 12 students are university aspirants, with others seeking entry to Institute of Technology (formerly TAFE) colleges, Apprenticeships or other training. Students are principally drawn from the South West and Great Southern regions, with others coming from Perth, the North West and neighbouring countries. Approximately fifteen percent of the secondary students board at the School. The School is situated on beautiful grounds which retain the feel of the native bush. We are very well resourced and we aim to deliver a world class educational experience for students.
The School is seeking to appoint a dynamic teacher of English who is able to inspire students to excel in this vital area of the curriculum. The ability to work alongside colleagues in a team environment is essential, as is a thorough knowledge of the Australian Curriculum in the English Learning Area. The School has a focus on continuous improvement of student outcomes, and an understanding of the importance of data to guide educational directions and inform decisions is essential.
The advertised vacancy is for a temporary position from 10 October 2016 to 9 December 2016. The successful applicant could expect to teach the equivalent of five classes of English (during the first 2 weeks) reducing to two classes per week for the remainder of term, as well as being a Home Group Teacher in the School’s House system. This gives a full-time load for Weeks 1 and 2 and a part-time load (0.454 FTE) from Week 3 to the end of Term 4.
The successful applicant will ideally have completed a tertiary degree in English or English Literature, as well as a teaching qualification and be experienced in teaching lower Secondary ATAR English.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Applicants must be willing to support the Christian ethos and camps programme of the School, and prepared to be actively involved in the co-curricular and pastoral programmes throughout the appointment. The successful applicant will be a Home Group Teacher within our vertical House system for pastoral care, for which 2.5 periods is given as a paid time allowance. Information Technology literacy is essential, as the School provides teachers with a laptop computer for use in the Teaching programme and reporting.
