Children\'s and School\'s Commissioner
Date 2016-07-27 20:07:33 Location : Europe
As a commissioning council, we focus our priorities on meeting the needs of our communities in a joined-up inclusive way. This will afford you as Children’s and Schools Commissioner for Sheffield to work effectively with partners to deliver school improvement and health and wellbeing services that enable key city wide outcomes to be achieved.
We now need a visionary, committed and collaborative leader to build on the good work that has already taken place. Reporting to the Executive Director for Children, Young People and Families, as part of her senior management team, you will be ideally placed to help Elected Members to develop and deliver strategy and policy to secure better educational, health outcomes and social care outcomes for children and young people. This will include leading the development of much closer working arrangements with Sheffield’s Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). This is a joint appointment with the CCG.
Most importantly you will be responsible for ensuring that parents, children and young people have a voice in directing and improving the services that they receive and act as their advocate, particularly those facing disadvantage and experiencing difficulties accessing services.
You will have the desire and ability to build strong and positive relationships with colleagues and partner agencies across the city, in particular Learn Sheffield and the Clinical Commissioning Group. You will have experience of working at Director level in either an educational, health or social care field and an understanding of delivering integrated customer-focused, multi-agency services. You will be able to understand the health and educational landscape in terms of policy and context and develop approaches that work for Sheffield.
Confident, committed and credible, you are likely to be in a similar role or looking to step up to a new challenge. Either way, it’s important that you are self-motivated, proactive and innovative and have exceptional influencing, partnership, communications and project management skills.
