We are looking for one qualified, enthusiastic, patient educator to teach our youngest learners (ages 4-7) for our August 2019- June 2020 school year. In addition to our young learners, this teacher will also teach primary school and adolescent/young adult students.
Na’atik Language and Culture Institute is a social enterprise dedicated to high-level cross-cultural language education. Located off the beaten path in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo, Mexico, Na’atik makes its home in the heart of the Zona Maya, approximately an hour south of Tulum and two hours north of Belize.
In addition to English classes, Na’atik teachers organize and conduct special events and field trips throughout the year. Please check out our Facebook page and website to learn more about Na’atik (naatikmexico.org). We also recommend looking at our blogs to learn more about life in our town.
Required Qualifications (please do not apply if you do not meet the required qualifications):
Native English speaker or equivalent
Degree from an accredited university
A TEFL/CELTA/TESOL teaching certification and 1 year of classroom teaching experience or a 4-year degree in primary or secondary education
Experience working with young children
Willingness to help organize and participate in special events and field trips
Experience working in the developing world
Experience teaching preschool or kindergarten
Use of bike
4 weeks of paid vacation
5 hours of free, group Spanish classes
Interested applicants should send resume and cover letter to Steven Norton, Academic Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org. In your cover letter, please explain why you are interested in teaching at Na’atik, why you would like to live and work in the Yucatan peninsula, and include a summary of your expectations for life and work in a sleepy, off-the-beaten-path Mexican town. Select applicants will be contacted by email. Start date will be determined at the time of hire.
