During my almost 15 years of teaching I have taught mainly English but also had the opportunity to teach Spanish and Mandarin. In general the courses were aimed at preparing students to obtain different language level certificates, for English mainly Cambridge PET, FCE, CAE and IELTS and for Spanish DELE A1-C2 Levels.

I have been in charge of curriculum development, choosing the teacher and student books and any helpful material for the instruction and learning process. I have also had to deal with assessing entry level for each student to ensure they were placed in the best course for their level.

In addition, I coached students to complete their preparation through mock simulations of the certificate exams. I also had the opportunity to organize workshops in order to engage students in their studies and motivate them. Having had the opportunity to teach Italian, Guatemalan and Taiwanese children and adults, helped me understand the importance of culture background in learning a foreign language and having been a language student myself I have been able to develop my own approach to teaching creating a method through which students enjoy learning and are able to apply their language skills and see results.

Moreover, I have had experience in preparing personalized courses for individuals with special requirements such as: CV and interview, English for Medicine, English for Business, English for Tourism and even English for a Tango teacher.

I also learned the importance of technology in and out of the classroom using Apps, social media, and websites such as Duolingo, Whatsapp groups, BBC English, VOA and many more.

Furthermore, having the experience of running my own language school in Guatemala City, I have collaborated in the administration and marketing of the schools I have worked for, which gave me the opportunity to put into practice my managerial skills and also marketing strategies learned during my BA studies.

Overall I have had the opportunity to develop myself not only as a teacher but also as a person and I am proud to say that I have a high success rate of students passing their certificate exam and achieving their objectives.
