    Greetings,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am a United States citizen with a zeal for developing my professional background and expanding my cultural awareness and perspective of the world. I received my bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. In my free time, I’m an avid writer of fiction and surrealist fiction with hopes of one day publishing a short story collection. Writing is one of my greatest passions, but what I love even more than that is helping young people improve their writing so that they can better express their thoughts and ideas. I received my master’s degree in English Education so that I would be more equipped to teach young people. Through the master’s program, I got my teaching certification and scored high enough (score of 52) on my Education Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA) to teach anywhere in the United States. However, I plan to teach abroad in order to become a more well-rounded educator.

My first year of teaching, I worked at a Title I school where 54% of the school speaks English as a second or foreign language. Eighty-five percent of students were on free or reduced lunch and live in impoverished areas. The school was immensely under-supplied with very little administrative support. My classes had 30-38 students in each, 90 minute periods, and I taught two courses (English Language Arts and Creative Writing). I currently teach students aged 3-50 (EFL/ESL) in Qingdao, China. I can assure you that I am adaptable and resourceful enough to handle any type of challenge that may arise, whether it be a lack of supplies, behavioral issues, or struggling learners. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and I hope that I can continue to strengthen my abilities as a teacher.

    Kind Regards,

    Chelsey Cashwell
